What if your Cloud ERP vendor fails?
Companies offering remotely hosted Cloud ERP solutions rarely provide meaningful, buyer-controlled failover options in case the ERP provider abruptly ceases operations. Typically, current customers would be among the last to know about an impending collapse, as the ERP company works to resolve critical issues without triggering customer panic. Additionally, it’s unlikely all ERP companies will be around for the next 50 years, so buyers must hope for an orderly and gradual wind-down or transition if their ERP vendor exits the market.
In contrast, with perpetual ERP licenses, buyers own and control their ERP software and hosting environments, making vendor failure more manageable. This ownership allows them to continue operations while planning a gradual ERP migration.
