ERP Comparison Database – Purpose & Limitations

ERP Database Design Approach

  1. Main Assessment Criteria: ERP in the database are assessed and attributed based on the sizes (in revenue) and industry types of customers using the ERP product. These attributes don’t change rapidly, and are used for creating ERP lists for a particular user.
  2. ERP Not Listed: Some ERP software products are not included in this ERP list as they are or were:
    • Not significantly suitable for use in manufacturing and/or distribution firms.
    • Overall considered weak in market presence or significantly dated technology.
    • Not effectively supported in the North American market.
    • An add-on solution to a base ERP that attempts to make the base ERP suitable for a particular vertical industry.
  3. Cloud ERP Status: Most ERP in this ERP database can be offered remotely or 'in the Cloud' through various means. Accessing ERP remotely relieves the buyer from managing hardware and software, which is usually good. However, everything else about remote access ERP is largely designed to benefit the ERP seller unilaterally. At the top of the list are unbounded options to increase fees to customers who cannot change ERP without great cost and risk. Here's a link to our white paper on truly important details to understand when arranging access to Cloud ERP.

  1. Copyright: This online ERP database and resultant reports are the copyrighted and intellectual property of Engleman Associates, Inc., and can only be used for enterprise software planning activities for which the user is directly involved. 2. Conditional Advice: This ERP data and listing process is not designed for making final decisions on the suitability of particular ERP for a specific company seeking ERP. The only way to understand actual suitability of candidate ERP solutions is to carefully, consistently and directly measure them against your organization's most important functional and non-functional priorities.
  3. Acknowledgement: By using the ERP comparison database you agree to these terms and acknowledge the ERP comparison database purpose and limitations stated herein.

ERP Selection – Leupold & Stevens

Long term ERP license costs were initially very difficult to calculate. Working with SoftSelect we were able to insist on a predicable ERP license fee approach and achieve much lower initial and ongoing license fee costs.

ERP Selection – Cornell Pump

Negotiating ERP costs is complicated and the ERP software vendors take advantage of the buyer’s lack of experience. SoftSelect’s experience and influence helped us level the playing field. We clearly saved money and lowered our long term risk.

ERP Selection – Provo Craft

SoftSelect was a great partner throughout the process of choosing an ERP solution. They helped us control the terms throughout the ERP buying process, and we achieved impressive results in reduced ERP license fees. Having an experienced partner like SoftSelect, helped us negotiate for the products we need and set our expectations for the process of implementing these solutions.
